El Matador and Jen - Ready for the Marathon

We got the chance to attend our friends Mario and Jen's wedding this past Saturday.  It's been quite some time since we've been to a wedding where we weren't working so it was pretty relaxing to just enjoy the event.  I never got around to posting the engagement session we did for them a while back (which they ended up using for their Save the Dates, Guest Book, and table decoration) so here they are!

Mario and Jen wanted to think of a creative way to announce their wedding date so I put my brain to work and came up with the idea to put the date on race bibs people use for marathons.  Mario and Jen ran a marathon together so this was a great way to show one of their similar interests.  We did this session near the Lincoln Memorial and Mario and Jen were cooperative and had loads of energy.  Jen even "caught" a plane during our jumping shot.  Another way I incorporated their personality into the photos was by using a 70's film look processing.  I don't usually use that type of processing but I think it came out really well especially since Mario was wearing an Afro wig at his 70's birthday party when he turned 30!

(In case your wondering, Mario is also known as "El Matador" because my best friend started calling him that the day before my wedding because Mario bears more than a passing resemblance to this guy that was on a dating show who called himself "The Matador".  We switched it up to "El Matador" because Mario is Nicaraguan.)

Boss! Dee Plane! Dee Plane!!!
