Our First Senior Portrait Session

I was contacted by Abbe's mother a couple months back asking if I would be available to do senior portraits for her daughter.  At the time, the only thing I knew was that Abbe was a senior at FBTA.  When Linda and I walked in the house, suddenly everything clicked as if I was having deja vu.  I actually had been in their home before for one of the FBT Singles' activities.  Linda and Abbe's mother immediately thought each other looked familiar and realized that it was through AWANAS that they knew each other.  Talk about a small world!

We got a chance to meet Abbe and she truly made our first senior session fun and easy.  Abbe is an accomplished piano player who is interested in studying music at Bob Jones University.  In fact, we were even treated to a personal concert in their piano room as we took pictures of Abbe playing the beautiful grand piano.  I guess we'll add free concerts to the perks list of being a photographer (it ranks right up there with getting to try tons of wedding cakes - which I might add is Linda's favorite perk)!

We originally were planning on going to Burke Lake Park to take some pictures with the awesome autumn leaf foliage and lake but were sabotaged by some silly haunted halloween activity that commandeered the park.  That didn't stop us though.  After we got some great pics of Abbe with her piano, we found a beautifully landscaped neighborhood and used it to our advantage.  We got plenty of honks and waves as residents of the neighborhood saw us doing a photoshoot in their rich pretty neighborhood.  After that, we crossed a super busy road to wander into some thicket and heavy brush which I think produced some amazing pics.  It looked like Abbe was in an Abercrombie & Fitch ad (except clothed much more modestly given that she's a good Christian girl).

Thank you Lisa and Abbe for the opportunity to capture Abbe's last year in grade school.  Abbe - we wish you the best as you pursue your dreams at Bob Jones University.

P.S. to Abbe - I think we all know these pics are really for your mom. She just wants something to remind her of her special girl when you're away at school.  This is the opportunity to tell your mom that you two should both get the iPhone 4 so that you can have video call capabilities.  Don't view that as taking advantage of your mother's love.  Just think of it as being a considerate daughter who wants to make her mother happy!
